Macon GA Store Fire Nov 1888

Conflagration in Macon.
Macon, Ga., Nov. 5.---A fire broke out this evening in the oil and paint store of T. C. Burke, and after consuming the entire stock, valued at $25,000, was communicated to the adjoining stores of Nussbaum, Van Syckel & Tindall, hardware dealers; of H. D. Adams & Co., wholesale groceries, and of Charles Taylor, furniture dealer, all of which were destroyed. The estimated loss is $125,000, about two-thirds of which is covered by insurance. The fire is supposed to have originated from spontaneous combustion.
