HOME-MADE CANNON EXPLODES
Fearful Result of an Accident at Atlanta, Ga., Yesterday.
Atlanta, Ga., Dec. 26. In Ackworth young men improvised a cannon by stopping up one end of a three-inch east-iron water-pipe yesterday. They were tamping a charge of powder with a crowbar when a terrific explosion occurred. The head of Alonzo Hansworth, colored, was blown off, the legs of Lowrey Boger and John Russell, also colored, were blown off, and the eyes of Charlie Stegall, a prominent young white man, were blown out. There were also many minor in juries.
