Off Miami, FL Plane Crashes Off Shore, Dec 1941
GEORGIA TECH STAR IN '28 PLANE VICTIM.
Miami, Fla., Dec 12 -- (AP) -- Three men, one of them a former star football player at Georgia Tech, died today when a twin-engined training plane of Pan American Airways burst into flames and crashed into eight feet of water a mile off shore.
GLENN A. HOLLAND of Atlanta, air carrier inspector for the Civil Aeronautics Administration, was carried to his death in the flaming plane. He was a right end on Georgia Tech's 1928 football team that played the University of California in the Rose Bowl.
JOSEPH C. BARRETT, JR., pilot, and W. S. SORENSON, radio operator, both of Miami, were the other two victims.
