Jacksonville, FL Train Wreck, Dec 1906

FATAL HEAD-ON COLLISION.
Passenger and Freight Trains Came Together on Atlantic Coast Line.
Jacksonville, Fla., Dec 18--Atlantic Coast Line passenger train No 82, north-bound from Tampa, collided head-on with a south-bound extra freight, near McGuire’s Creek, seven miles from Jacksonville, to-day.
The dead:
CLAUDE BAILEY, white, express helper, first trip out.
Seriously injured.
W. F. Shelley, engineer of passenger train, shoulder dislocated.
H. V. Cader, express messenger, body crushed and internally injured, may die.
Baggagemaster Wooten, leg broken.
Other members of the crew and several passengers were slightly injured.
The express, mail, and baggage cars of the passenger train were telescoped and five gondola coal cars were piled on top of them. Responsibility for the wreck has not yet been placed.
