The one-story dwelling, owned and occupied by a colored man named Bethel, at the corner of Fourth street and Avenue H., was practically destroyed by fire at 10:20 o'clock last night.

The building was all ablaze when the alarm was rung in from box 17, at the corner of Avenue G and Third street. The department was on hand quickly, but was able to save nothing but a portion of the charred walls.

Most of the contents of the building were also burned, the total loss to Bethel amounting to several hundred dollars, with no insurance.
