WOMAN STOPS BLAZING AUTO.

Mrs. Cuno, Though Burned, Shuts Off Power and Gasoline Before Jumping.

DANBURY, Conn., Oct 2.----While flames leaped about her, scorching her head and face, Mrs. J. N. Cuno of Roslyn, L. I., remained on the big automobile she was driving in the gymkhana race at Danbury Fair to-day until she had shut off the power and the gasoline. Then she jumped. The gasoline tank had caught fire while the machine was going at full speed. In the automobile with Mrs. Cuneo were Miss Maude Tweedy and Miss Flora Shuldice, both of Danbury. They threw themselves over the back of the car and escaped uninjured.

Mrs. Cuno's plucky action was witnessed by a large crowd, which cheered her enthusiastically. She suffered much pain, but is not, it is believed, seriously burned. The machine was almost destroyed.
