$2,000,000 FIRE AT VICTORIA
Business Center of That City Prey to Flames.
Victoria, B. C., Oct. 28.---Fire swept through the heart of the city's business section. The flames wiped out several of the finest buildings and caused a loss roughly estimated at from $1,500,000 to $2,000,000.
The fire started in the department store of David Spencer & Co., Limited, one of the largest retail establishments in Victoria. Among the buildings burned were the Times office and the Five Sisters building, a five-story office block. The Driard hotel was badly scorched, sustaining a loss of $10,000.
