FOUR MEN BURNED IN PRAIRIE FIRE.
CONFLAGRATION IN AGRICULTURAL DISTRICTS NEAR WINNIPEG -- CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILROAD PROPERTY DESTROYED.
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Oct. 13. -- A fearful prairie fire swept over the agricultural districts in the near vicinity of Winnipeg last night, doing great damage, barns, hay-stacks, and buildings being destroyed. It is feared there have been numerous fatalities, but only four are as yet reported.
THOMAS HONAN, section foreman, and EDWARD LUCAN, his assistant, turned out to save the Canadian Pacific Railroad station at Elm Creek. The flames came on them with a rush, and both men were cremated.
At St. Vital, EDWARD and JOHN ST. GERMAIN, sons of a prominent farmer of the district, went out to save their father's haystacks. The flames surrounded them, cutting off escape, and they also were burned to death.
