AN EXPLOSION IN A CANNERY.
One Person Killed and Two Others Seriously Injured.

CLAYTON, Del., Sept. 22. - The boiler in Carson's Cannery exploded this morning.
Oliver Brown, of Havre de Grace, Md., was so badly injured that he died. Jacob Kerchley, of Harford county, Md., and Levi Ransom, of this place, were seriously injured.
The roof of the building was blown off and the boiler thrown seventy-five feet into the air.

A Marylander Killed by an Explosion.
WILMINGTON, DEL., Sept. 22. - The boiler in Carson's cannery, at Clayton, Del., exploded at 7 A. M., injuring three persons, blowing off the roof of the building and sending the boiler 75 feet into the air. The injured, who were brought to the Delaware Hospital, this city, are:
Oliver Brown, engineman, of Havre de Grace, Md., unmarried, was so badly hurt internally and scalded that he died this afternoon.
Jacob Kerchley, of Harford county, Md., widower with three children, scalded and both legs and left hip broken; recovery doubtful.
Levi Ransom, slightly scalded and knocked senseless; injuries not serious.

A Marylander Dies of Injuries.
WILMINGTON, DEL., Sept. 23. - Jacob Keally, of Harford county, Md., another of the victims of yesterday's boiler explosion at Clayton, Del., died at the Delaware Hospital, this city, this morning, making the third victim. The coroner's jury in the case of Engineer Brown, one of the victims, rendered a verdict censuring the proprietors of the cannery for not employing a practical inspector to inspect the boiler.
