Fall Mountain, CT House Fire, Nov 1956

TERRYVILLE, Nov. 16--(UP)--A family of six was homeless today as a result of a fire which destroyed their two-room house at Fall Mountain lake.

Edwin Polchies, a night shift worker, said he was awakened by the cries of one of his four children and discovered the house a mass of flames. The only door was blocked, but Polchies, his wife and the children escaped through a window.

Fire Chief John Gibb, who said the building and its contents were destroyed, said the blaze apparently started when a curtain was blown too close to a gas heater.
