Castle Rock, CO Train Wreck, Aug 1908
Special to the Courier.
Castle Rock, Colo., Aug.11.----In a collision between two Denver & Rio Grande freight trains four miles south of Castle Rock this morning L. A. Phillips, a fireman, whose home is in Denver, was probably fatally crushed. The trains met at high speed, three cars in each being telescoped and demolished and both engines being badly damaged. Failure of the northbound train to follow orders is given as the cause for the wreck. Traffic over the line is tied up and trains are being run over the Santa Fe tracks.
The Weekly Courier, Ft. Collins, CO 12 Aug 1908
