Greek Gives Life To Save his Comrades

Three Die When Lightning Sets Fire to Shaft House of Bell Mine at Telluride.

Telluride, Aug. 3.-Three men are dead and four are in a critical condition as a result of lightning striking the power house of the Bell mine this afternoon.

The power house and frame buildings at the mouth of the shaft were burned, and the mine was filled with smoke. The dead were suffocated, and their bodies have not been recovered. The injured were overcome, as were six in a rescue party.

The dead are, JAMES MORRIS, a Greek, and CARMAN CARODO and VALENTINE FOSSEN, Italians.

MORRIS met his dead as a result of attempting to save the lives of his fellow victims.

The fire was burning late tonight.
