Edmonton, Alta., July 18. -- (CP) -- Three persons met death by drowning when the bank on which they were standing gave way during open air religious services, 80 miles south of Hemaruka, Alta., plunging into the Red River, according to information received here. Hemaruka is 16 miles south of the town of Veteran.
The victims of the drowning were:

ANNIE ZAPOROZAN, aged 18, their niece.
Eight persons were standing on the bank when it slid riverwards, but five succeeded in escaping from the turbulent waters. The bank of the river had been undermined by recent high waters. The river at this point is 20 feet deep.
