TRANSIENTS DEAD IN WRECKAGE OF TRAINS, BELIEF.

PHYSICIANS FIND EVIDENCE OF FURTHER CASUALTIES IN NORTHWESTERN ACCIDENT.

Ukiah, Cal., March 1. (UP) -- Belief that the crash between a fast passenger train and a freight near Largo yesterday afternoon may have caused the deaths of several transients was expressed here today by DR. F. L. REA, local physician.
DR. REA said that while investigating the scene of the accident he had found evidence which convinced him that several men who may have been "riding the rails" of the freight possibly met death.
Three investigations were under way today to determine responsibility for the death of two trainmen and injury of approximately thirty other persons.
EDWARD H. MAGGARD, president of the Northwestern Pacific, announced he had organized a special board of inquiry of company officials. The state railroad commission and the interstate commerce commission will also take part in the investigation.
Engineer Blamed.
Preliminary reports indicate the engineer of the passenger train was responsible for the crash. Orders for his train to stop at Largo were found in his jumper. At Largo it was said the train sped through that stop.
The dead:
GEORGE BRADLEY, JR., Willits, the engineer of the passenger train.
F. L. LANDRE, Sausalito, fireman of the freight train.
Most seriously injured were GEORGE W. CUNARD, Sausalito, engineer of the freight train and G. R. McLEOD, Healdsburg, mail clerk, were to be taken to San Francisco today in a special train for hospital treatment.
