Los Angeles, CA Single Plane Crashes Into Garage, July 1967

THREE KILLED IN LOS ANGELES CRASH.
Three persons were killed Wednesday night when their single-engine aircraft crashed into a West Los Angeles garage when attempting an emergency landing at nearby Santa Monica Airport because of engine trouble.
They were identified as the pilot, DAVID H. BAER, 42; his wife, ROSE, 50, both of 1523 Bel Air Road, and JOHN H. SEELEY, 53, of 15724 Chase Ave., Sepulveda.
Police said BAER, planned to rent the craft from SEELEY, owner of the four-seater, and was taking it for a test flight.
Witnesses said the Bonanza Beechcraft 35 skimmed about 100 feet over rooftops in the residential area before crashing in flames into the garage at 2713 Barry Ave.
Officials at Santa Monica Airport said the pilot radioed he was in trouble and was attempting an emergency landing. Authorities said the aircraft made an approach, overshot the runway, banked and crashed.
