Dynamite in a Blacksmith's Shop
CHICO September 10---Word was received here late this evening of a terrible accident which took place yesterday at Bull Creek, forty[sic]-three miles from here in which T. D. Bennington was killed. Bennington had taken some dynamite into a blacksmith shop for some work when a terrible report was heard. Bennington's young son ran to the shop and found it completely destroyed. The body of Bennington was found fully forty feet from the shop mutilated beyond recognition.
