Texarkana Doctor Dies of Injuries

TEXARKANA, Dec. 28.---Dr. J. K. Smith, 58, South Arkansas physician, died in a hospital here Monday of a broken neck received Nov. 24 in a automobile accident near Grannis, Ark. He founded a clinic here in 1926 that bears his name. Beside his wife he is survived by five sons, Dr. William Decker Smith, Paul Smith, James Knox Smith and Charles Smith, of Pasadena, Calif. and one brother, V. D. Smith of Alamo.
He was a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Texas and Arkansas Medical Societies. In addition he was chairman of the committee on medical war defense in Texas. Dr. Smith was a member of the Scottish Rite Cathedral, Dallas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church.
