Mine Town Afire; Dynamite Planned To Check Flames
KINGMAN, Ariz., March 20 (AP). – The mining town of Oatman, twenty-five miles southwest of here, was burning Friday night.
The flames destroyed a block of business buildings and it was feared dynamiting would be necessary to halt advance of the fire.
All telephone communication was cut off as offices of the Citizens Utilities Corporation was destroyed.
Appeals for aid were sent to the Kingman and Needles, Calif., fire departments.
Lack of water and the tinderlike (sic) construction of the old mining town’s buildings caused the flames to spread with devastating swiftness.
