Douglas, AZ Lime Quarry Explosion, Nov 1906

PREMATURE EXPLOSION KILLS EIGHT

Douglas, Ariz., Nov. 15.---Two Americans and six Mexicans were killed by a premature explosion at a lime quarry nine miles east of Douglas today.

The dead Americans are:

SAMUEL STEELE, Mesa, Ariz.
VICTOR SHELL, Mesa, Ariz.

The names of the Mexicans are unknown. Several boxes of giant powder had been loaded into the drill holes when the explosion occurred, hurling hundreds of tons of rock upon the workmen.
