FOUR MEN ARE INJURED IN WRECK AT OPELIKA
Passenger Train Runs Into Work Train in Yards and Seriously Injures Workmen, Passengers Escaping Unhurt.

OPELIKA, ALA., Dec. 8. - The local passenger train from Roanoke was wrecked at 7:30 o'clock this morning while entering the yards here, by running into the rear end of a work train that was backing out of the switch. The caboose of the work train was demolished, four men were seriously injured and the passengers were badly shaken up.
Conductor Bates, of the work train, was cut, bruised and suffered concussions, his condition being so serious that he was sent to Montgomery for treatment. The others injured, less seriously, are: Fireman Otis Hall of the work train, ankle sprained from jumping; Engineer John Ray of the passenger train, bruised and cut; an unnamed negro cook of the work train, bruised and cut.
