DESTRUCTIVE FIRE IN MARION, Ala.---A letter from the Postmaster at Marion, Ala., gives the following account of the destructive fire which destroyed a large portion of that thriving village on the 22d ult:
"One entire block in the heart of the business part of the town, is in ashes. The alarm was given about nine o'clock, and by one it was all gone.
"The loss is between thirty and fifty thousand dollars. The principal sufferers are L. J. Lockett, Messrs. J. F. and W. Cook, I. W. Garrot, G. P. Murphy, Godden and McEachin, L. C. Tutt and J. H. McCall, besides others not now recollected. Most of the goods and valuables were saved, but in a damaged state.
"It is now 3 o'clock, and all is quiet. The devouring flames have spent their fury, and we are left the smouldering[sic] ruins, by which we wend out course through the blockaded streets. Everything is 'confusion worse confounded'."
