Boothton, AL Coal Mine Explosion, June 1938

THREE MEN KILLED, ONE BADLY BURNED IN MINE EXPLOSION.

Boothton, Ala., June 11 (AP) -- Three men were killed and another seriously burned in an explosion last night at the Boothton mine of the Southern Coal & Coke Company, 34 miles southwest of Birmingham.
Company employes identified the dead as:
CLYDE HALEY, white, about 30.
BERNICE MILLSTEAD, white, about 30.
EARLY WILLIAMS, Negro, age 50.
MACK SMITH, a white man, was burned on the hands, arms and face.
