Thutade Lake, BC Plane Crashes In Lake, Apr 1991

LONE CRASH SURVIVOR SATISFACTAORY.

Smithers, B.C. (CP) -- Six people died Thursday but one person survived when a DC-3 returning from a remote British Columbia mining camp crashed on a frozen lake, search and rescue officials said.
The survivor was reported in satisfactory condition after being taken to hospital in Smithers, about 690 kilometres northwest of Vancouver.
No names were released.
Officials said there was little left of the plane, owned by Central Mountain Air of Smithers, after it crashed on Thutade Lake, about 200 kilometres north of Smithers.
The bodies of the six victims were to be taken from the crash site today.
The plane was on a return flight from a mining camp in Sturdee Valley to Smithers. It was reported overdue at about 4:30 p.m.
